Note: Any act of plagiarism will result in a zero for the assignment and disciplinary action. A second confirmed act of plagiarism will merit removal from the class.
Textbook: Alan Brinkley, Unfinished Nation – latest edition
Instructions: Step 1, gather evidence (statistics, events, and examples) from your textbook and class lectures concerning women’s rights – all women – and anything that can be defined as an improvement or a detriment to public and private opportunity.
In History, females are often overlooked or marginalized.
When the topic of women does arise, it frequently involves the primacy of the vote.
But as we know, voting once every few years does not compare to what a person can, or cannot do, every day of their lives.
This assignment focuses on gathering, analyzing, and communicating information that concerns the rights of women over generations.
It also is meant to help us understand the many forms in which “rights” can manifest themselves.
Step 2: Analysis. Explore the evidence and see what you find to be the most significant breakthroughs in each of the following eras:
a. 1865-1920,
b. 1921-1965,
c. 1966-present.
In each segment, address how and why women’s rights changed through specific events such as government acts, social movements, major wars, technological breakthroughs, education, health, safety, employment opportunities, etc.
Step 3, Communicate your findings honestly. In your own words, write 1,500 to 2,000 words, addressing the three eras separately. Submit the paper in the appropriate folder.
