Answer the following discussion questions:
Identify a nursing research topic that you are interested in.** Make sure it is a nursing topic and not a topic from another discipline such as medicine. Post the topic to the discussion board by Wednesday. Explain why you are interested in that topic. (Tip: look at topics in your nursing textbooks or nursing journals for ideas – browse through some nursing journals – or ask some nurses for suggestions of practice issues or concerns.)
Search the CINHAL database for a nursing research study related to your topic of interest. Post an APA reference for that article in your initial post on the discussion board (at the bottom of your post). Also, attach a PDF (file) of the nursing research study (journal article) to your initial post. How did you identify the article as a research study? Is it a quantitative or a qualitative research study? How did you determine this?
Post reflective and constructive comments to at least two of your classmates’ postings. Can you identify additional terms that may help them with their topic? Can you identify additional ideas for their literature review? Is it a nursing research topic?
**Take the time to find an appropriate topic that is interesting to you, while also meeting the assignment expectations. It is important that it is interesting to you because you will be working on it during the course and reading many many journal articles, etc. related to the topic you choose.
Therefore, choose an interesting topic that you wish to spend all of those hours on studying reading each week. Some students elect to change their topic during Week 2 after they dive more into the topic area and readings; and that is okay. 🙂
