Please read the article(it’s in the upload files)The authors review case studies of Values-Based Supply Chain businesses and find that fair labor practices seem to be a low priority among mid-scale supply chains that market based on the quality and values embedded in their food production methods. In their analysis, the authors weave together several topics in this class so far: food supply chain actors and relationships, scale, policy, third-party certifications, social and cultural values, and others.
Describe at least 2 of the constraints that lead fair labor standards to be a lower priority for values-based supply chain businesses (if others have already posted, pick different constraints!)
What could change to remove the constraints that you discuss? Think big–what might have to happen inside or outside of the food supply chain that would create opportunities to adopt fair labor standards in agricultural and food supply chains?
