For this 4–5-page essay, you will identify and attend an
event related to our class topics and then write a summary of your experience,
linking it to class topics/readings and your reflections on the experience.

Ideas for this assignment may include but are not limited to
the following: (Students may need to use virtual meeting methods considering (COVID-19
restrictions)

• Visit a community meal center and eat/meets with guests.

• Visit an assisted living facility or nursing home.

• Attend an open meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous or some
other similar self-help group.

• Attend an event at a religious or spiritual community which
is new to you.

 • Attend a cultural
festival or special interest group or event which is new to you.
