In preparation for a Joint Commission visit, the CEO wants you to write an issue brief to distribute to all of the departments. This brief should explain what the Joint Commission is, what is meant by accreditation of a hospital, what is meant by deemed status, and how a hospital obtains it. You may need to get outside sources for this brief.
Issue Brief General Instruction
The goal is to learn to write and present concisely for an “executive” audience. This will be composed of a max two page written brief (not including title page) on an emerging current topic within the assigned areas. Each assignment will be submitted following the instructions in the assignment box and the guidelines in the bullets below. The goal of this exercise is to brief a hospital executive board on a topic, evaluate its usefulness/applicability in the clinical setting, and make a recommendation (e.g. adoption, do not adopt, mandatory training, further research, etc) as completely and concisely as possible.
Typed using 12 point font (Times New Roman)
Double spaced with 1″ margins all around
Pages numbered on all pages except title page
References are not required. However, if References are used, put them on a page to themselves as the final page (not included in the page limit). Use APA style for your citations.
Quotations should be very punctual and not full paragraphs from your sources. You need to include a precise link (URL) to the cited reference when the reference is from the Internet and not only to the general page where the reference is located.
