For this discussion board assignment, you’ll look at data about the variation in domestic policy across the country.  Later, you’ll use this assignment as a starting point for Paper/Project #1.  Just follow the steps below:
1) choose 2 states- each of you should choose ONE “not adopted” state and one “adopted” state from this map of which states have adopted the Medicaid expansion

2) Locate data for your states and CA on MEDICAID policy, on ENVIRONMENTAL policy, and on TAX/BUDGET policy at the following websites:
a) Kaiser Family Foundation Medicaid Factsheets (Links to an external site.) -click on your states on the map
b) Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (Links to an external site.) – scroll down to find the 2 data maps
c) Pew Trusts – “How States Raise Their Tax Dollars” (Links to an external site.) and “Where States Get Their Money” (Links to an external site.)
3) record and share with other students the following data for your 2 states PLUS California (feel free to cut/paste this chart into a word or google doc, fill it in, then re-paste it in your reply below.

Regarding Medicaid OR Climate Change policy (choose ONE), do you think the level of variation among the states hurts or helps the ahievement of policy goals?  ( In your answer, make sure you reflect on WHAT the policy goals might be.)
5) Post a reply to another student who EITHER chose the same policy as you to answer #4, but answered differently on the hurts/helps part of the question OR who chose a different policy to answer #4  – in other words, if you answered #4 about Medicaid, reply to a post about Climate Change policy (due 7/7)
