You need to write a report to critique the article using quantitative method(s) for this assignment. Your critique should include the following components.
Introduction (no more than 1/2 double-spaced page)
Name the article being reviewed as well as the name of the author.
Describe the main argument or purpose of the article.
Have a concluding sentence that signposts what your evaluation will be. For instance, it may indicate whether it is a positive, a negative, or a mixed evaluation.
Article Summary (1/2 to 1 double-spaced page)
Briefly summarize the main points of the article and objectively describe how the study was conducted and what the main findings were. This summary should not be the focus of the critique and is shorter than the critical evaluation.
Critical evaluation (2 to 3 double-spaced pages)
This section should give a systematic and detailed assessment of the different elements of the article using the general evaluation criteria and design-specific evaluation criteria from Chapter 23 of the textbook. Please note that you may not need to use all the criteria because some may not apply.
To support your evaluation, provide evidence from the article itself, such as a quote or example and give the corresponding page numbers, and you may also cite evidence from related sources. Explain how this evidence supports your evaluation of the work. For example, you should not simply say the sample size is too small in the article. Instead, you may say the sample size was 20 (p. 145), which is too small for the analysis.
A critical evaluation does not simply emphasize negative impressions. It should identify both strengths and weaknesses. It should examine the work and evaluate its success in relation to its purpose.
Conclusion
This is usually a very brief paragraph, which includes:
A statement indicating the overall evaluation of the article.
Recommendations for improvement on the article may be appropriate.
References
Include all resources cited in your critique in APA format (if you used outside sources).
