Some
commentators argue that the “employment at will” system in the US
should be replaced by one that provides employees with due process
rights in employment. These commentators argue that employees should be
permitted to be terminated only for just cause, after a hearing and an
opportunity to defend themselves.
In
an essay: (a) explain the employment at will system, and compose an
argument for or against mandatory due process rights for all employees
in the US. In this argument, explain in detail why you believe the
system of employment in the US should or should not be an employment at
will system. (b) Consider the opposing view in your essay (e.g., if
you are for employment at will, consider the arguments against it, and
vice-versa), and explain why you do not agree with the other side’s
arguments. You will need to research these issues on the web,
and (c)cite to these resources in your essay.
