The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed some weaknesses in our food supply chain, impacting some food products more than others, and some people more than others through their work or through their ability to acquire food. Longer term forces such as climate change will impact our supply chains in the near term and longer term.
Let’s bring together the examples of different foods that everyone has been studying to think about today’s food supply chain challenges related to production, processing, and distribution:
Describe current constraints in your food’s supply chain (e.g., drought, disease, labor, health impacts, natural resources, markets, trade policies, etc.).
What technological, policy, social, or other changes are possible to remove these constraints?
