PurposeFor
this assignment, you will develop the last part of the data governance
plan. In this part of the plan, look at covering the functional design,
governing framework design, road map, rollout, and sustain portions.
Assignment Instructions
A
new small business that deals with sensitive data collection and
storage needs a data governance plan. Assume no other artifacts exist
for this assignment. You may make other assumptions as needed and may
ask your instructor any questions.
In your plan include as much as possible regarding the following:
Functional
Design: Areas to consider are the generally accepted information
principles (GAIP). Align GAIP with existing principles and policies.
Draft governance principles, policies, and functions.
Governing
framework design: Areas to consider are data stewardship, data usage
categories model, data governance framework, RACI chart to assign
responsibility, accountability, consult, and inform with the roles.
Simulate the assigning of roles and responsibilities to positions within
the business.
Road map: Cover integrating the data
governance plan with other efforts within the organization. Since a data
governance team will not be permanent, roles will be integrated into
existing positions in the business. Finalize the change management plan
and maintenance of such.
Roll out and sustain: Cover
how the plan will be rolled out and executed. Also cover how measures
will be taken and used to ensure the plan effectiveness.
