Hello. This is just a two peers response assignment
please see both below.
1. Hello class, my name is Kenneth White and I am going for my Bachelor’s degree in Business Association at LAPU. Regarding public speaking classes, this is the first official public speaking course I will take. Growing up I was very shy and awkward, but over recent years I have developed my ability to perform well or at least decent enough in uncomfortable or unfamiliar situations. Two of my speaking strengths are a high-quality organization of my words and thoughts, and professional as well as smooth delivery.  The key for me to achieve the full potential of my strengths is to put in the effort to create foundation and revision in my speeches; this is similar to the writing process but with speaking. Two of my weaknesses with speaking are rushed planning along with nervousness when speaking in front of a crowd. However, with an online course such as this one, anxiety with many people watching is eliminated as I will have to record my own speeches rather than walk onto a stage to converse.

To answer what I aim to learn about public speaking, I want to learn more about how to make myself fully comfortable and immune to distractions or my plethora of thoughts racing through my head as I speak. I hope to gain skills in creating a consistent routine for my speechmaking process as well as the ease with talking about topics I do not have prior knowledge of. I believe this course will assist me personally by becoming more relaxed with myself and my speaking process, professionally by planning for myself to speak in a formal environment, and educationally as I will develop more fundamental knowledge of the speaking process.
My faith fits into the Ephesians 4:29 profile because it will steer me away from distracting points and instead it will effectively focus me on explaining my speech topic and analysis of the said topic. When speaking in almost any real-life situation, I aim to create a conversation that is important and efficient rather than adding random details to my speech. Lastly, my motivation to become a better speaker is from my family, friends, and career I have ahead of me. I want to be a professional in any field I indulge myself into.
Thank you for reading and have a good day!

2.

Hello Everyone, my name is Ashlee. I am a 29-year-old mother of three children, ages 14, 12, and 1. Currently, I work as an LVN at Kaiser Permanente in Southern California. During the COVID pandemic, I figured what better time than to return to school. I am currently wrapping up my prerequisites in order to apply to the BSN program at APU. In regards to public speaking, this would be my first time taking this course. When it comes to speaking in public I feel I carry myself well. I am confident and can easily initiate a conversation. However, I have noticed that it is not when I’m in front of people that I get nervous rather when I am in front of a camera. With my science classes, I had to record myself speaking and realized I was using the filler “um” frequently. This caught me by surprise since in typical conversation it is not a word I utilize often.

With this course, I hope to surpass the nervousness I feel when on camera, and ultimately eliminate the use of fillers. With nursing, communication is essential and it must be done professionally and confidently in order to gain the trust of a patient. This ties in with the bible in regards to clear and compassionate communication since it is key in empathizing and showing an understanding of a patient’s perspective.

Ultimately this course will assist with sharpening my skills as well as identifying areas of improvement. I am extremely eager to see what new information I will learn over the next 8 weeks. It is a pleasure to get to know you all and I look forward to working with each and every one of you.
