Case:“Angie, age 24 is a single mother. Her children are 7, 4, and 1. The call comes in stating the mother is using THC and Meth and is leaving her kids home alone several days in a row to do drugs. The 7-year-old has also missed 30 days of school so far with no excuse.Before you go out you noticed three years ago you had to work with the home on her substance abuse issues, but she completed the program after being involved with CPS due to her 4-year-old being born addicted to drugs. You get to the home and the mother welcomes you into the home. She wants your help as she is 3 months behind in her rent and is getting evicted. She admits to being stressed out over her money situation. She also admitted to using drugs but feels it is not a problem as she does drugs outside of the home. The children state they are ok, but they do not get food every day. There is little food in the home. The electric is still on, but she is behind in her electric bill and is facing a turn-off notice soon. The 7-year-old admits he has not been in school in weeks because he takes care of his siblings when mom is gone. Mom says she has not sent her kid toschool a lot lately because she has been too sick to get the child to school. The school officials you talked to reported that the 7-year-old constantly falls asleep in class when he is there, and the mom does not return phone calls. The children’s father (same person) has not been with the mother in almost a year because he is in jail for selling drugs. He is due out in 5 years. Mother states she is no current relationship. She was not in a previous D/V relationship. She says her mother never really mothered her when she was a child.None of the child have any disabilities or behavioral problem
