One of the main points of emphasis is to make operating and improvement decisions about a process based on data from the process that has been collected and analyzed. Opinions provide guidelines that might tell us what to explore, but are not “enough” to make useful decisions. Give an example from your experience where this “decision-based-on-facts” approach was NOT followed, leading to greater issues/problems. This can either be from your personal life or from your work life. How would things have turned out differently if data, rather than opinions or gut-feeling, had been used to make the decision?
