Patients and their respiratory care educators sometimes have different goals for patient education. Using information from the course materials and online/library resources, identify the goals of the patients and of the educators. Discuss how the goals of each group can be merged to form a cohesive education plan. Include at least two barriers to a learner’s ‘readiness’ to learn that are to be considered and foreseen. Offer a detailed description to combat such barriers. Also, describe and discuss at least three of the effective teaching strategies that can be used in patient education. Discuss in detail how you would use them in your education plan. Provide an example. Research existing cases and add your ideas on how to improve patient education whenever possible.
