GoalGrowth and development are connected to health promotion and safety. Cognitive development affects how we think about and interact with our environment. Psychosocial development helps define why we interact with our environment in a certain way. For this assignment, you will create a safety campaign advertisement for a school-age child that incorporates these factors and promotes health and safety.
Guidelines1. Choose one safety topic from this list (or one you are passionate about that is not on the list):
maintenance of adequate nutrition
importance of regular dental care
need for immunizations
firearm safety
fire escape plan
bike safety
sports safety (choose 1 sport)
water safety (swimming, boating, etc.)
car safety (seatbelts)
2. Determine who your audience will be, i.e. school-age child, parent of a school-age child, elementary school teacher, etc.
3. Create/design a short ad campaign: radio ad, video, information for a flyer, etc. to promote that health and safety topic Be creative. Upload your flyer, video, etc.
4. Self-reflect about your process during this assignment. Include:
Why you chose your safety topic and your target audience.
How did you incorporate cognitive development in your ad?
How did you incorporate psychosocial development? (Hint: developmental stages could refer to the school-age child or your target audience).
