Session 5 Final Paper
The civilizations that we have studied up to this point can be placed into two groupings, Western and Non-Western. Western Countries:Greece
Romans
Byzantine Empire
European (Spain, England, France…etc)
Non-Western: East Asia
Egypt
Persian Empire
Sassanid Empire
African Societies and Kingdoms
Incas
Mayans
Aztecs
Mongols
For your final paper you will need to review the civilizations studied and answer three of the following questions:Do you agree that the Western civilizations have a clear lineage that focuses on the majority of these attributes; competition/innovation, science, property rights, personal freedoms, and free-market economy?
It can be argued that Western Civilization was also heavily influenced by the Christian faith and spread because of the Christian faith. Based on both the scriptures you read in this course, as well as your study of the civilizations, consider how biblical truth was reconciled with the above attributes.
Do you believe the West still has the lead and control of these in the present day?
With respect to African societies and kingdoms, in what ways have they influenced the modern world?
Of all of the non-western societies we covered, which one could be argued as having the greatest positive influence on the modern world?
Choose specific and prominent societal examples and be sure to support your argument for or against your ideas with credible sources. This assignment is to be written as a five to seven-page research and analysis paper. Please be sure to write your paper in APA according to the APA style guidelines. You must use at least five scholarly sources in your research in addition to the textbook. Your research and writing for this final paper must be original, and must not duplicate the work you have done for any previous assignment in this course. As you respond to the prompt, be sure to analyze how what you have learned has impacted your prior understanding of the topic. Make sure to integrate a biblical perspective of the topic, citing Scripture to support your thoughts.
