Yes, this argument is persuasive. The effectiveness of undercover operations depends entirely on the consent of the government to make arrests. The benefit is that police officers can obtain valuable evidence from an undercover operation and such evidence can be used in legal cases.
It is argued that undercover investigations are difficult, and that the difficulty may put officers in danger. But I disagree and agree at the same time with this argument because most undercover operations are simple, and most of the ones that are difficult are also dangerous. While the risks of deception can be undeniable, there are also some benefits that come with the deceptive techniques. One of these benefits is that undercover investigations can help in preventing dangerous activities.

There are arguments from both sides on this topic that are persuasive. I am swayed more by the argument that undercover investigations place police officers at risk. The reason being is that if you are met with a crime, whether it be prostitution or drugs and you are an undercover officer and unable to arrest someone then it will lead to less help in situations where they can greatly.

To avoid this, officers will ensure their cover identity is convincing. This may include learning accents, being aware of relevant cultural nuances.
I believe undercover activity is justified in the eradication of most crimes. However, I do not believe that this activity should be condoned for the legalization of pornography or prostitution. This activity places officers’ lives in danger and can become morally corrupting.
