Social Functions of Religion:
Social control: Discourages inappropriate behavior
Conflict resolution: Reduces stress and frustrations
Reinforcement of group solidarity: Enables expression of common identity
Physiological Functions of Religion:
Cognitive: Provides an intellectual framework for explaining parts of our world that we do not understand
Emotional: Helps reduce anxiety by prescribing straightforward ways of coping with stress
Next, write about how your own religious belief system incorporates art into its practice. If you do not practice a formalized religion, then describe how art fulfills a need for beauty, human connection, or connection to nature.
