For this individual final project, you will interview a set of parents and write a reflection based on the interview. The purpose of this activity is to gain key insights about the rewards and challenges of parenthood. Your instructor will review and grade the write-up using a rubric.
InstructionsTo successfully complete this activity, carefully follow these steps below:
Select a set of parents to interview (your own parents, parents you know, a single parent).
Conduct a 30-minute interview with the parent(s) that includes questions and conversation about parenting. During the interview, you will ask questions and record responses. You can write down the responses or record the interview on a recording app; whichever is easiest for you.
You may use the following sample questions below or prepare your own questions entirely. In either case, ask questions that address the content of the class. Specific questions will more likely result in specific and in-depth answers.
You must also create your own questions, and as the interview proceeds, ask questions based on the discussion. The following are sample questions you may include in your interview:
How has caring for your own health and needs influenced your ability to parent your children?
How have you parented your children similarly or differently based on their individual differences and unique needs?
How has your parenting perceptions and practices changed over time, from your first to last child, or for your boys and girls?
What strategies did you use to encourage or motivate your children in chores or homework? How can parents foster grit and determination in their children?
What part of parenting is most rewarding?
What part of parenting is most stressful? What advice would you offering for managing that stress?
How has parenting affected your marriage? As a father or a mother, how have you contributing differently to the parenting of your children?

Write a reflective 750-word write-up in a Word document using APA guidelines (Links to an external site.) (exclude abstract, but include a cover page and reference list) that details the questions you asked and the parent’s responses (APA Sample Paper (Links to an external site.)). Note: The reference list should not be included in the word count.Although you are sharing the parent’s responses, this paper should not strictly be one quote after another. It should be written in essay form with quotes from the parents and commentary from you that links the responses to the content of the class and current research.  Please remember to acknowledge your sources with appropriate in-text citations and a reference list.
Conclude with a final paragraph that expresses your own thoughts and what you learned from the parents you interviewed, as well as how the experiences of these parents parallel with material covered in the course.

Refer to the rubric to help you understand what is expected of you.
Submit your assignment by the due date.
