For this assignment, you will be required to observe a specialized group session and author a reflection paper on this experience. To complete this assignment, you will be required to attend an alternative group experience (e.g., alcoholic anonymous, narcotics anonymous, support groups for depression, anxiety, parenting, incest survivors, eating disorders, post-partum depression, compulsive gambling, sex addiction, et cetera). Workshops, lectures, board meetings, and presentations are not acceptable for this assignment. Please identify a local group in your community and contact the facilitator/providing agency to obtain permission to observe one session of this group for your academic program. Please plan ahead in scheduling this observation activity. Inform the facilitator you will not record, nor discuss any identifying information that you observe. Your focus is to pay attention to group dynamics and facilitation skills during the session.
