The prompt for Paper #1 actually comes from your textbook, Chapter 4, Nation and Culture.
“Keep a close record of the local or global origins of what you do for one day. Where do the things you use come from (for example, clothes, food, furniture, books, computer)? Most of these will have multiple sources (for example, clothes designed in one place, material grown in another, assembled in yet another); can you determine all the sources for the things in your life? What about the practices and ideas that you engage in? Where do they come from? On the basis of this record write a short essay about global and local intersections in your life.” p. 69-70.
This paper should be approximately 3-4 pages double spaced.
It should include, as an Appendix, your compiled notes about the sources of your “things” and the practices and ideas you engage in on a daily basis.
Your paper should demonstrate thoughtfulness and should utilize at least 2 different chapters/articles from this course to help you make sense of the global and local intersections you uncover.
You may need to use other sources as well to uncover those intersections or put them in context.
Any texts you utilize should be included in a reference list at the end of your paper. That reference list should be in either APA or MLA format.
