From the August 31 lecture, five different soft skills were presented. These are:
Communications
Creativity
Adaptability
Collaboration
Leadership
Rank these five soft skills from strong to weak (or 1 to 5) in a self assessment of your professional skills. Show this ranking at the beginning of your submittal. After completing this assessment, complete a four-paragraph short essay that responds to the two following requests.
In the first two paragraphs, state why you selected one skill (your ranked #1) as your strongest. Provide an example of a recent particular activity where your participation merited bringing out this skill to make that effort successful. Consider all possibilities in answering this question . . . from a past effort here at ASU . . . or a moment in time in a job or activity . . . where you simply had to engage this skill to ensure the effort is successfully completed.
In the final two paragraph, state why you ranked one skill (your ranked #5) as your weakest. As you reflect upon this skill, what measures do you think you can take to strengthen this skill? For example, take another course related to that skill before you graduate? Complete an on-line webinar? Or, join an organization where you think you will be challenged to use this skill? There are many more opportunities for improving upon your soft skills. Provide an answer with a path that you believe you will complete.
This assignment is a qualitative effort. The grade will be based upon your own words and thoughts about your code of ethics. Context will count for 40 points and grammar and spelling will count for 10 points. Essays are due as a Canvas upload in PDF format, only.
