Credible and Reliable Nutrition Sources
In this chapter, you
will be learning about some of the popular “fad” diets that are promoted
by the “diet industry” as a quick fix to losing weight. It can be
useful for you to be able to determine if one of these diets is going to
help you meet your weight goal or will it lead to at best a temporary
weight loss, but ultimately no permanent weight loss due to it’s highly
restrictive rules about what to eat and not eat.
This assignment is
designed to help you develop the critical questions you should ask about
a popular diet that is being promoted by a specific nutrition source
that you follow or tend to be drawn to when you want to make a diet
change.
You will critically evaluate two websites you have selected.
1) Find one website that you consider a reliable/credible source and one that you consider false, misleading, or non-factual. Keep in mind
that when searching for credible sources you should also determine if
your source would be appropriate to use as a scholarly reference (to
support your discussions and homework assignments).
