***Below is my the instructions for this assignment. Please Read Carefully.
The historian Richard Bulliet provides the following definitions for landmark events and watershed events:
“My definition of a landmark event is something that stands out on any historical chronology in the way a church steeple standing out on a physical horizon is said to orient riders in a steeplechase. It’s highly visible but, in the broad sweep of history, perhaps not truly consequential … My definition of a watershed event is something that fundamentally changes the direction of things, just as a physical watershed marks the point where river waters divide, draining toward the Mississippi River, say, on one side and toward the Atlantic Ocean on the other.”
This week’s readings surveyed different moments from Islamic history. Select four events discussed in the readings, two of which are landmark events and two of which are watershed events, and justify your decision to classify each event as either a landmark or watershed event. You should provide direct page references to the readings by Martin, Nasr, and Ernst (pp. 127-141) to receive full points. You do not need to refer to all three of the readings for each event. Your answer should be between 250-300 words.
