The purpose of the journal entry is to provide the student with the opportunity to reflect on the interactions that occurred during the visit and evaluate his/her and the patient’s reactions (verbal and non-verbal). The entry should address the student’s reflections on the aging process, including physical, psychosocial, economic, and spiritual need of the patient as well as the patient’s attitude about aging, losses, retirement, and his/her overall mood and appearance. The entry should also include a summary of any significant changes.
