For this essay, you will be using theatrical staging conventions to make an argument about the play you choose (see choices below). Your goal is to show how one staging choice might enhance, contribute to, or clarify the meaning of one moment in the play. You can pick any theatrical element to focus on—props, set, costumes, sound, blocking (movement, entrances, and exits), etc. Your “essay” has three parts: quotation, illustration, and explanation.
