A process recording is a written
tool field education experience students, field instructors, and faculty
use to examine the dynamics of social work interactions in time.
Process recordings can help in developing and refining interviewing and
intervention skills. By conceptualizing and organizing ongoing
activities with social work clients, you are able to clarify the purpose
of interviews and interventions, identify personal and professional
strengths and weaknesses, and improve self-awareness. The process
recording is also a useful tool in exploring the interpersonal dynamics
and values operating between you and the client system through an
analysis of filtering the process used in recording a session.
For this Assignment, you will submit a process recording of your field education experiences specific to this week.
The Assignment (2–4 pages):
Provide a transcript of what happened during your field education experience, including a dialogue of interaction with a client.
Explain your interpretation of what occurred in the dialogue, including social work practice or theories.
Describe your reactions and/or any issues related to your interaction with a client during your field education experience.
Explain how you applied social work practice skills when performing the activities during your process recording
SCENARIO FOR PROCESS RECORDING
this is my 4th session with client. we have been able to implement transportation and for her son to come daily to assist and there is now a senior advocate organization that is involved that has taken my clients to case to the low income housing board to apply for hardship and an exemption to the policy about having her son come and stay with her to care for her. my client is on the waitlist for assisted living and in the meantime does require the support from her son. things are working out somewhat satisfactory with having the transporation in place for her son, however her son has not been as consistent with being there which has caused additional anxiety to my client. my client has anxiety and was not taking medication. i have worked with her on mindfullness and breathing excercises to help cope as she was resistant to taking medication at first. since i last saw my client, she did go to the hospital having a panic attack and she did get a prescription for ativan to take as per needed. this is to help her during her times of panic. when talking to her she acknowledged that her anxiety is an additional stressor and she sees that at this point in her life it’s something she needs to take control of even with medication. she let me know that she made an appointment this up coming week. we talked about this upcoming appointment and i checked in to make sure that she has transportation, and she informed me that it will be done virtually but she does not have access to a device to do a video call. i informed her that our organization has tablets that were donated and that i have applied for her to have one as i had previously mentioned in one of our last sessions. i let her know i would drop it off. visit ended on a postiive not.
attached i have a process recording template please fill with this information i provided in an interview fashion. i have also included my previous 2 process recordings with same client to give backgroud and feel free to add where needed. please ensure to include 2 citations.
i have also attached a theoretical cheat sheet. please ensure to incorporate one or 2 of these theories to the analysis of the interview and what was used to assist the client.
