The term touched on something vital to women’s experience, generating robust scholarship exploring the urgency and persistence of these themes in women’s writing and lives. Choose a female writer, excluding the ones discussed in the course, and write an essay on one or two of her works, in which you examine the female gothic. Your analysis should focus on how gender shapes the writing, the elements of the female gothic (horror and the supernatural), how those elements are employed in the selected text(s), and the contribution of this work to the bigger canon of women’s literature. Your essay should be 1500-2000 words. Please use MLA sixth edition for citation, other styles are NOT accepted and you will lose marks even if you use them correctly. Quote from your references, don’t mix a writer’s words with yours or paraphrase those words, I will consider this as plagiarism. You should have at least 5 secondary references in your bibliography, in addition to the texts you are working on of course. Academic references don’t include Spark notes and similar websites, please use the databases you have on the university portal such as Jstor, EBSCO, Springer, Project Muse …. etc.Your paper must have a cover page with your name, the title of your paper, the word count and your signature on the plagiarism note.
