New communication building in UTS: All you need to know
UTS FASS Dean announced plans to build a new communication centre at UTS to house the School of Communication today and floors 5-10 in Building 10 will be refurbished and constructed to accommodate the centre. This is because the communication field requires technology and specialised facilities to continue to educate students for communication careers.
Construction should begin a year from now. In the future, New Centre will feature state of the art technology for integrated media including journalism, public relation, advertising, digital media, and audio video production and post production. At the aspect of the cost, it will cost approximately 70 million AUD in this process.
For the current progress regarding the cost, “Alumni and donors have already contributed 14.95 million. Federal grants account for 9.5 million. 30 million is available through the university’s capital fund reserve for new building projects. Approximately 12 million remains to be raised.” FASS Dean said.
“It found that the school of communication is growing in student enrollment and is projecting a 35 percent increase over the next five years. Accordingly, this the second reason why we need a new centre for this increasingly demands” FASS Dean added.
“At present, there is no doubt that the technological changes in the new media era need more advanced equipment to meet the learning needs of students. The quantity and quality of equipment in the old media center can no longer meet the increasing number of students and the diversity of technical teaching means.”
“In addition, due to the improvement of teaching environment, the new center of communication college can also attract more new students to apply for the examination and attract more excellent professors.” he said at the end.
It is understood that the whole plan will start next month, and the college will build a new communication centrecombined with the feedback from students and teachers. At the same time, the design drawings of the plan will also be publicized on the college website. The whole construction process is planned to take 10 months.
