Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic sudden and unprecedented economic shock forced many store closures challenging store owners to stay afloat by changing their operating models during the pandemic to drive revenue and generate new opportunities through online platforms; Instagram, TikTok, YouTube to increase their consumer traffic.
Theory
Social media has become a savior to several business owners. It has allowed businesses to not only keep the conversation continuing in real time, but also to rethink their interactions with present and future customers. It has created opportunities for owners to better understand and appreciate consumers, develop a new business, and earn more revenue.
Research Objective
Determine what type of business/industry.
Determine which social media marketing approach the business took. Instagram, tiktok, youtube or Influencers?
Research which social media platform businesses utilized the most.
Research challenges of marketing and fulfilling products during the pandemic.
Research the benefits and challenges the businesses noticed before and during covid.
Research Overview and Scope
Main focus of this research is to see how social media helped small businesses grow during covid. Storefront business owners and E-commerce online store owners will be interviewed to collect data. Employees at the companies will be asked how covid changed the workplace. Thus, Owners and employees will also be asked if the online methods helped salvage revenue. Also, each company will be examined and evaluated on how they reimagine their interactions with current and potential consumers to provide a more dynamic experience and improve loyalty.
Research Methodology
Qualitative research: Companies will be asked to provide quantitative results, which will then be evaluated.
Descriptive research: Industry, market and products of such data will be collected to calculate the businesses overall success.
Analytical research: The research will be examined to determine the overall factors.
Interviews: Collecting data by doing interviews on the business owners.
Fundamental research: A research will be conducted to identify how social media behaviors affect the consumers decision making.
Conclusive research: This research on social media helping small businesses during COVID-19 will provide an answer to the thesis being questioned.
