This criterion is linked to a Learning OutcomeIntroduction and framing

Introduction lays outs a compelling theme, question, or organizing principle. Effectively sets up the exhibits in clear and persuasive prose, and offers appropriate context (if context goes beyond class material, cites secondary sources). writing is clear and organized, typos are minimal. Note that the project does not need to advance a definitive argument in the way of a typical paper. It can be exploratory, but it should be thoughtfully selected (“curated”) so that sources connect.

This criterion is linked to a Learning OutcomeExhibits (research, selection, curation)

Thoughtful selection of exhibits, a maximum of one of which can be from after the year 2000 unless cleared in advance; Exhibits come from appropriate sources, e.g., archival collection, book/journal, credible data source (up to one may come from a non-traditional source); there is some flexibility here depending on genre of sources–more recent books or songs can be cited directly instead of from an archive if commonly available. All sources should be clearly and correctly cited.

Exhibit analysis

For traditional project, captions thoughtfully analyze exhibits, pointing to specific details in the sources; For data, charts are clearly explained and analyzed in clear prose so they can be easily understood without technical knowledge; Well written and generally free of typos; Captions analyze details from the source or chart and tie back to larger themes of exhibit. For podcast, sources should be appropriately analyzed, with the host pointing out relevant details of their content. Across all varieties of project, analysis need not be comprehensive (as in the worksheets) but can focus instead on aspects relevant to the exhibit or podcast.

Generally a 10/10 unless the student has missed important parts of the instructions.

For data and curator options, a maximum of 4 charts or graphs (5 not permitted unless cleared in advance for a specific curatorial reason!); Maximum of 800 words total for captions (penalty over 880!) –
