How will you develop real people power through strategic planning? How will

How will you develop real people power through strategic planning?

How will you sequence the 198 methods you chose and why?

Tactics that will be utilized earliest to latest: (8) Signs, (121) Rejection of Public Support, (44) Mock Funeral (vigil), (177) Speak-in, (98) Quickie Walk-out, (51) Walk-out, (71) Consumers’ boycott, (144) Stalling and Obstruction, (60) Suspension of social and sport activities, (78) Workers boycott, (159) The fast, (65) Stay at home, (112) Reporting sick/sick-in

We have chosen to sequence the methods in this way so that we may first build awareness throughout the campus community to broader mental health issues and more specifically what our asks are, with the use of signs, a vigil honoring those lost to suicide, and an interivew with The New Hampshire Magazine. With increased awareness, we will provide opportunities for students to join in and voice their wants and needs to begin community building; for example by holding a forum for students with marginalized identities they can express their visions  in a safe space before sharing to those who may not hold these identities. We then implement walkouts and strikes that are on a smaller scale after we have witnessed ample participation in prior events and use these to gauge success and plan for larger ones. Through obstructing the entrance to certain campus buildings where administrators work and including them in activities and awareness building throughout, we express the need for their support that will assist in making our culminating events of the large boycotts, fasting, and reporting sick successful. We have saved these methods for last as a strong community of participants who have a clear understanding of the who, what, where, when and why of their asks is needed. This also provides greater planning time and collective resources to provide for individuals during the fast, workers boycott, etc. who otherwise rely on these UNH services or employment  for their daily needs.

How will you plan for political jiu-jitsu?

Building of community support with non-UNH entities, Ex: providing list of demands and holding an interview with The New Hampshire so that if the administration holds an interview as well, readers have access to our original information and it is not misconstrued by the university.

Symbolic reactions; Ex: a professor gives students a 0 for participation on the day of the quickie- walkout, students attend professor’s office hours/next class and remain silent. Refusal to participate until grades are changed.

More generally speaking, in instances of counter-strategy and responding to action we deem unsuitable, we will inform all members of how they can respond in a similar, non-violent way as well as brainstorm collectively how we may do so.

How will you address fear and nonviolent discipline?
