Week 3 dicussion 1
It is very likely that you have attended some type of special occasion in your life where someone gave a toast or speech. Whether at a wedding, graduation, or even a memorial service, these types of speeches are considered special occasion speeches. Consider a time when you attended a special occasion speech and reflect on what made the speech memorable for you. Based on the readings in Chapter 5 of the course text, indicate what type of special occasion speech it was and analyze how effective it was for the audience based on the speech’s content, organization, and delivery.
Your initial post should be at least 250 words in length. Support your claims with examples from the required material(s) and/or other scholarly resources, and properly cite any references according to APA formatting as outlined in the Writing Center. Respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts by Day 7.
Week 3 Assignment

In preparation for next week’s Special Occasion Presentation, prepare the outline for your planned five to six minute presentation to be given at a specific occasion, such as an award presentation, retirement, wedding, birthday/anniversary, graduation, or memorial/funeral. This assignment requires that you create a formal outline. A formal outline is detailed and written in complete sentences instead of using a keyword or sentence fragment for each point.
Creating a formal outline will assist you both in developing your ideas and in following the organizational patterns that you have learned in this week’s readings and discussion forum about delivering presentations. It is important to have a clearly established audience for your presentation and to consistently adapt the content of your presentation for that audience.
