You may submit the assignment on either of two issues, sentencing reform or innocence reform. You may pick one issue or the other.
Your task is to do real research into the issue. After completing your research, you will prepare a position paper on what you believe the best practices for improving sentencing reform or innocence reform. This allows for you to discuss many topics from the innocence project to bill reform and court reform. Although the subjects are wide-ranging, make sure you follow the position paper guidelines below.
Each submission will be a minimum of 650 words
Proofread for grammatical errors and clarity
Include a minimum of 4 academic references (scholarly journal publications or government reports) to support your position. (Points will be deducted for the inclusion of non-academic sources such as Wikipedia, personal blogs, Ask.com, textbooks etc.)
All content should be your own original ideas – supporting your argument with relevant sources is fine, but the content of your response itself must be original to this course and to these discussions.
