What local change would you like to see in relation to the topic you researched.

I will like to see every incoming students, residents and communters do a training on Title IX before the start of their first year at Gwynedd and to see more of Title IX information around campus.

Identify key local partners that are in a position to create the kind of change you want to see.

The key local partners that are in position to create this kind of change is the Dean of student affair.

What critical information you have learned from the course, your training, and service experiences do you wish to share with potential partners/stakeholders?

During this course and my service project working with the Title IX coordinators I learned that many students do not know much about Title IX and Take back the night. So I think by having every student doing the training before the start of their first year and having information around campus year round and not just one week in April will help spread the message.

How can you be sure to accurately represent the community impacted by this issue to have its voice represented in the process of change?

By doing my research and gathering all the necessary data to show that many students do not know what Title IX is about.

What are the best ways to get your message out to potential partners and stakeholders?

By writing them and letting them know the importance of making the information about Title IX visible to all students.

In your research and through service/training, what resources can you identify that already exist for the promotion of nonviolence in the area you selected?

The resources that already exist is the once a year Title IX training and the once a year Take Back the Night event.

From your research and through service/training, what resources DO NOT already exist that you can advocate for?

The resources that do not already exist is the visibility of flyers about what Title IX is about as well as Take Back the Night.

Name your very specific goal in support of meaningful change (SMART= Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Time-limited).

My specific goal is for there to be more visibility of Title IX and for all incoming students, resident and commuter to take the Title IX training before the beginning of their first semester of 2023.

Identify a key outcome that will let you know if change has occurred or if progress has been made.

The key outcome that will let me know that change has occurred or progress has been made is to see information about Title IX and Take Back the Night around campus year round.

Write the letter as if it will actually be sent (though you are not required to do so).

Formal Letter:

Using your responses to the planning questions as a guide, write a one-page formal letter to an actual stakeholder which includes the following:

Identify the social justice issue about which you are advocating for change.

Explaining your reason for writing (SEM 118 course and study of the Critical Concern) and how this is aligned with Mercy Values.

Explain the impact on affected populations (individuals and communities) based on your research (use brief and specific statistics pulled from verifiable sources/research and cite).

Explain what is meaningful to you in advocating for this change and how you are already promoting nonviolence in this area in your life and work.

Ask for their support in taking what you see as necessary action. Be clear and specific about what you are asking the stakeholder for or to do! Make your request time-limited and realistic. Provide an opportunity to connect or follow up.
