A personal vision statement helps understand what an individual desires to achieve professionally and personally. The vision statement can guide determining the career that one wants to pursue, planning how to attain goals, and making vital decisions. Alternatively, a personal mission statement clearly defines an individual’s goals and provides a vivid pathway to the realization of success. Therefore, developing a unique vision and mission statement is critical in helping one to realize professional and personal goals in a given field. This assignment will discuss an operational definition of my concentration, outlook for employment in my field, professional vision and mission statements, goals for the next six months, and areas of professional development.

Operational Definition of Your Field

Health Policy Track

This concentration will assist learners in acquiring, recognizing, and construing accessible health evidence to advise on crucial public health policy issues at the local, state, national, and international echelons (Rajab, 2019). The concentration emphasizes system thinking and applying specific scientific methods from various disciplines. This will enable public health practitioners and policymakers to respond more effectively to current needs. Additionally, the track is used to evaluate potential solutions to public health sector problems.

The Public Health Informatics Track

            The concentration offers training in informatics notions and approaches applicable to public health and population health administration. The concentration is primarily intended for health professionals interested in developing a specialty in the rapidly evolving field of public health informatics. Focusing on concentration can help in health information management.

Healthcare Management and Leadership Concentration

The concentration is designed to improve, measure, and monitor healthcare organizations’ financial and clinical performance while also preparing health sector leaders to implement organizational change. The concentration is critical because it will equip me with the knowledge and skills necessary to create a successful organizational leadership and governance structure that integrates core values, vision, and missions related to addressing public needs.

Outlook for Employment or Advancement in Your Field

With the growth of the health care industry, the outlook for a profession in health services management can be considered positive. Employment for health service administration experts is projected to rise by 32% between 2020 and 2030 (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2021). The number of professionals in the field is expected to increase to approximately 555,500 by 2030. The essential skills required to work as a health service administration professional include problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills (Rawat, Kumar & Gupta, 2021). Moreover, most health and medical services managers have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree before joining the field. Nevertheless, master’s degrees emerge to be expected too. Prospective managers generally possess some work experience in a clinical or administrative role in a healthcare facility.

Professional Mission Statement

A professional mission statement defines who a person is as a professional and what one desires to achieve. It is vital to have a professional mission statement as it helps make a person conscious of the professional direction that should be undertaken. Besides, it is critical in guiding a person and making decisions. My professional mission statement is “to be a great and robust teacher, an exemplary leader in my field so that I can positively influence other people’s lives. I will incorporate high levels of professionalism, good people management, communication, customer service, and organizational skills in my practice and focus on my personal development to guarantee personal and professional success.”

Professional Vision Statement

A professional vision statement expresses an individual’s career values and goals. It helps give an individual a clear and inspiring direction that is to be attained. The professional vision statement is “to become a management doctor who will create and sustain a culture of excellence in healthcare through valuing individuals, community health, visionary leadership, and focusing on delivering results.”

Add Career Related Skills

Within the coming six months, I will acquire new skills related to the career. This will help in ensuring I am fully prepared for the career. Moreover, developing the skills would increase the chances of being absorbed in the profession.

Add My Professional Networking

Professional networking is critical for growth. There will be a need for adding my professional network associated with the career. This will increase the chances of growing in the profession.

Work on Improving Areas of Weaknesses

Every person has an area of weakness. Identifying these areas helps an individual to understand oneself better (Friedman, 2013). Improving areas of weakness would help in building my strengths.

Improve my Strengths

Strengths are integral in operating in a particular field. I will focus on improving them. Indeed, enhancing my strengths will present high opportunities for taking part in my career field.

Professional Development Areas

I will require attending to different areas to reach my goals. I will need to participate in workshops on professional development in my field. I will also need to attend training in communication for effective interprofessional relations. In addition, I will need to attend training to develop analytical skills, which are necessary for professional development in the field.
