PICOT Paper
Module 2: Formulating your question:
Clinical Question – Formulate a clinical question using the PICOT format (the sequence of PICOT needs to be followed)
P: Patient Population (for example—Did women ages 20-40 with DMII)
I: Intervention (what was done to fix this issue) (for example—who were prescribed insulin)
C: Comparison intervention or group (for example—compared to those who were prescribed oral diabetic medications)
O: Outcome (show better blood glucose management)
T: Time (for example—over a 1 year period of time, over a 6 month period of time, over a 3 day period of time)
Sample sequence: “In acute care hospitals (patient population), how does having a rapid response team (intervention) compared with not having a response team (comparison) affect the number of cardiac arrests (outcome) during a three-month period (time)?”
So, using the example above, you would “plug in” your information like this:
Did women ages 20-40 with DMII (P) who were prescribed insulin (I) compared to those who were prescribed oral diabetic medications (C) show better blood glucose management (O) over a 6 month period of time (T)? **You may not use this PICOT question for your paper**

Assignment instructions:
Address the following areas of discussion (numbers 1-4):
Reason for choosing this topic (literally state “I chose this topic because…”)
The PICOT question (you must state your PICOT question in the correct format and sequence of PICOT, in that order, you will lose points if improperly formatted)
Possible integration of the evidenced that you found in clinical practice (how can your PICOT topic and comparison be used in real life practice?)
Methods to evaluate the effectiveness of implementation (How would one see if the intervention, or the “I” section of your PICOT question, was helpful/beneficial or not?)
Submit the entire paper (title page, body of the paper, and reference page all in 1 submission, this is also proper APA format)
Your paper must be 2-3 pages (the page requirement does not count the title page and reference page, those are in addition to the 2-3 pages required)
Your must have 3 peer-reviewed references/sources
Your references must be from the years 2020, 2021, & 2022
Your paper must be in APA 7th edition format (there is a sample paper in the APA resources document in the Extra Resources folder in the course shell)
Include your Grammarly plagiarism report when you submit your PICOT paper
Upload all documents for this PICOT paper and the Grammarly report in 1 submission in the drop box (contact PSC if you are unsure of how to do this)
