Book Critique Assignment Instructions
Overview
Simple Student Ministry. This paper will enable you to process the main ideas in Geiger and Borton’s book to demonstrate your understanding of their approach to discipleship in youth ministry by simplifying your approach. This assignment will show your insight into their approach and principles for creating a youth ministry that helps students grow in their faith.
Gospelize Your Youth Ministry. This paper will enable you to process the main ideas in Stier’s book to demonstrate your understanding of his approach to evangelism in youth ministry. This assignment will show your insight into his approach and principles for creating a youth ministry that helps students reach others for Christ.
Instructions
For each book critique, you will communicate your insight into their main ideas in a way that will help someone unfamiliar with this book to understand its key thoughts. Your summary will be the bulk of content (3 – 4 pages), but your evaluation will be the weightiest part of your grade, even though you must be choosy about what you critique and apply and be concise (1 – 1½ pages).
Assignment requirements:
Your paper should be four to five pages long. (See the breakdown of these page counts above.)
This does not include the title page and bibliography.
This assignment should be formatted in Turabian.
You should cite the authors at least three times, but you should reference main ideas and all quotations.
You do not need a footnote for every single idea from this book because your reader knows that you are critiquing a single book.
You must cite this book and any other sources used, including those for author information.
