Group Case Study #1

Nurse Jones is an experienced RN and has been working in a critical care unit at a large university hospital for 10 years. She recognizes her role as a knowledge worker as she provides care for her patients by gathering pertinent data from multiple sources, interpreting that data into information then using this information along with nursing knowledge to create and initiate a plan of care in order to achieve better patient outcomes.

Nurse Jones prepares for a new patient to arrive from the telemetry unit, but she is not familiar with his diagnosis. Her hospital provides resources and technology to support evidence-based practice.

Describe how technology can support evidence based practice and two resources that Nurse Jones could use to prepare for her new patient?
