An important aspect of learning in an online course is student-to-student interaction.

An important aspect of learning in an online course is student-to-student interaction. One way to do this is with asynchronous, threaded discussions. Asynchronous discussions are ones in which postings are staggered. Postings don’t happen at the same time as in a synchronous discussion such as a chat room. Your discussions are also threaded. This means that a series of responses to a posting flow from the original posting in outline form on the discussion board. To get the most learning from the threaded discussions, please follow these guidelines:

Before Posting

Read the assigned material

Browse the supplemental learning resources in the week’s module

Read your fellow students’ postings.

Think about what you want to write

Posting

Participate weekly in the threaded discussion for each module.

Practice good netiquette.

Use good grammar, correct punctuation, correct spelling, etc.

Bring in resources other than your textbook.

Cite any resources that you use in APA 7th edition format.

Visit the discussion board several times during the week.

Check for any responses to your postings.

Let’s learn more about the Codes of Ethics for Nurses that provide guidance in ethical decision making.

View the Codes of Ethics videos then watch the TED video below.

Reflect on the codes of ethics and think about your perspectives to answer the discussion questions.
