Issue 1

As I pursue my career in Cybersecurity, there are two significant issues of interest in the field. The first issue is the concept of digitization evident in rapid technological advancement, machine learning, software, hardware and cloud dependency, and artificial intelligence adoption. Digitization has taken center stage in our lives, giving rise to advantages and detrimental consequences. On the one hand, digitization has led to numerous global benefits. For instance, the digital era has enabled individuals and organizations to access extensive information promptly. Through digitization, data centralization and accessibility have advanced, thus enabling easy access to any data globally. Digitalization has also improved effective communication with the aspect of immediacy. Technological progress has also created numerous opportunities, such as remote working, thus allowing people flexibility.

On the other hand, digitization can potentially exert negative implications on users. For instance, digitization has enabled a quick spread of false information, which various users employ for manipulative purposes. Malicious users have also taken advantage of digitization to launch cyber-attacks and cyberbullying and exploit victims by demanding ransoms. A blurring line exists between the digital platforms and the physical domains that require extensive research and keen consideration.

Issue 2

The second issue is privacy and data protection regulations. Various organizations have set up regulations and laws to ensure consumer and customer personal data becomes safer. The ultimate purpose of such regulations lies in maintaining a balance between various interests in the healthcare or economic sectors and the personal data ecosystem. The privacy and data protection regulations are beneficial in ensuring customer rights protection by offering individuals control over the collection, sharing, and tracking of personal data. The laws have also improved the safety and security of sensitive data, inhibiting security breaches and data leaks. However, the overreach of such laws and regulations exerts a negative effect, thus curtailing the intended purpose. Such laws have led to fragmentation and conflicting elements for companies. Organizations often hang between defending and protecting their customers from security breaches, complying with complex regulations, and advancing the firm’s objectives. Privacy and data regulations have also stagnated technological innovation since innovators feel stifled by the overlapping regulations.

From the two issues presented above, I would choose digitization as one of the issues to write in the final persuasive essay. The reason for choosing digitization is the thin line between the digital and physical domains. Digitization brings out complexity because the advantages and disadvantages of the issue exert a similar impact. Therefore, there is a need to look into the concept and define ways of making it beneficial since it cannot be completely eradicated from the world. The digital platform has become quite complex to navigate even by technological experts. The side I might argue is in support of the benefits of digitization. The concept has resulted in more benefits in various sectors, such as education, the economy, and healthcare. Thus, it is worth embracing digitization even as we find ways to navigate the negative implications.

The topic of digitization stands crucial to various stakeholders from diverse sectors. The healthcare sector, economy, education, and even families benefit from digitization. The whole world thrives in the digital era. Thus, there is a need to help each stakeholder understand the role of digitization and navigate the implications of such technology in advancing cyber security.
