PED 322 Movement Analysis Project, Due 12/11/22
Every student will complete a movement analysis project, including both a written paper and brief presentation. You will select a movement or exercise and perform a whole body movement analysis on that topic. If you pick something we’ve covered in class then you will need to tell me how your analysis will be different.
Topic approved: Dead Lifts
Paper
The paper will be graded on:
Content – the project should show a semester of kinesiology knowledge regarding your chosen topic.
Length – Each paper is required to be 4-6 double-spaced pages, 12 point font 1in margins.
Resources – a minimum of 5 sources of information, including at least 3 articles from scientific journals, should be used. *Bibliography does not count towards page total*
The paper should include:
1. Introduction:
a. Title of chosen movement
b. General Description of movement
2. Body of paper
a. Who uses this movement and why?
b. Detailed explanation of chosen movement (planes and axes of movements, joints involved, etc.) This can be done in tables that you reference (sized appropriately)
c. What muscles (agonists, antagonists, neutralizers, etc.) are involved in the movement (including the types of contractions)?
d. What are the important parts of the technique and why?
e. Are there common injuries associated with this movement? What can be done to prevent them?
f. Discussion of beneficial training techniques for this movement
– Practice/learning strategies
– Strengthening/stretching main muscles
– Physiological factors (i.e. strength, endurance, power)
3. Conclusion: Brief 1 paragraph summary of your findings
