The purpose of this assignment is to structure your analysis of an important conflict in which you were recently involved or continue to be involved. The paper is intended to foster learning of the concepts and theories of conflict management through direct application. It is also meant to facilitate insight into your particular conflict interaction. Outside references are not required, although references to the textbook are required. The final version of the paper should be at least 10 pages, double spaced, not including the bibliography and title pages.
B. Detailed Description
1. Criteria for Selecting an Interpersonal Conflict for Analysis
a. It involves you and one other person with whom you have had a relatively long-term interdependent relationship. The most common relationships analyzed include those with family members, close friends, spouses/partners, supervisors, co-workers, and supervisees
b. It was a relatively significant conflict in your relationship with the other party.
c. It occurred recently or remains ongoing.
d. It is not too sensitive or too upsetting for you to analyze.
2. Required Structure for Your Paper
a. Go to the Conflict Assessment Guide (CAG. in the textbook.
b. Create a title page.
c. Write an introduction and label it as such.
d. Use the following CAG headings/categories (indicated with Roman numerals in the textbook. within your paper. Under each heading, write in full sentences and paragraphs answering (but not restating. at least half the major questions (indicated with capitalized letters in the textbook. in each CAG heading category.
o Nature of the Conflict

o Power
o Styles
o Conflict and Emotion
o Mapping Interactions and Overall Patterns
o Attempted Solutions
o Negotiation

e. Add a heading/section called Strategic Choices. Use this section to identify what you could have and/or would have done differently to have a more productive conflict. If this conflict was destructive, how could you have handled it differently? If it was productive, what could you have done to make it even more so?
f. Write a conclusion and label it as such.
g. Create a bibliography and label it accordingly
