More and more data about each of us is being generated faster and faster from more and more devices, and we can’t keep up. Ethical considerations are falling by the wayside. It’s a losing game both for individuals and for our legal system. Aoife Barry believes “your Fitbit is basically Sting…”Every step you take, every breath you take, it’s always watching you. Even when you’re asleep.” The houseguests on Big Brother all have Fitbits and you can see their steps online!Should media (digital, traditional or otherwise) counter the effects that this loss of privacy may have on children, teens and other vulnerable groups?
