The program prepares a student guide to assist in initial introductions to each other, our faculty, and our Board of Visitors.
Steps
- Locate a casual photograph of yourself to submit for the student guide. For best formatting, please share a landscape/horizontal casual photo.
- Write a brief biography statement.
- Using no more than 500 words, tell us about yourself.
- Introduce yourself, including your current role and institution if applicable
- List 1-2 aspirations on where you wish your career will take you upon completion of your MHA degree
- Include things you enjoy doing, i.e. your hobbies, how you spend your downtime
- The roles you’d use to describe yourself
- Detail one to two accomplishments; these are your success stories-contributions you’ve made to a team, deliverables to a project, projects you enjoyed or a situation in which you changed or improved a condition
- Your past degrees and institutions
- NOTE: Two next steps, please do both.
- Upload your photo and bio to this assignment, and
- Email your photo and biography statement to Daphne Mark at dlm79@psu.edu by the due date.

Online MHA Bio Example:
I work in long term care, as Asst Director in a life care community in Anywhere, USA. I went to Alpha College for my degree in Recreational Therapy. I worked as a rec therapist for 9 yrs before moving into administration. My background allows me to consider patient needs in a holistic way. I’m looking forward to expanding my skills in finance in hopes I will transition into hospital administration. I am a military spouse and mother of two girls, ages 4 and 1. I enjoy reading and hiking.
Residential MHA Bio Example:
I am joining the PSU Integrated BS/MHA program from my hometown of Small Town, USA. Throughout my childhood, I had many encounters with doctors and others in the healthcare system. Seeing these roles firsthand sparked my interest in the healthcare world. My experience as a pediatric patient gives me a unique worldview on patient care. I was invited to provide input to the Children’s Hospital of Big Town when they were redesigning a patient care floor. I have completed an internship at Holy Smokes in Big City. I am the President of (club) and the Treasurer of (PSU student org). I enjoy playing tennis, golf, and skiing.
