According to a recent study by Smith (2017), 99% of the Fortune 500 companies participate in CSR. For this group assignment, your group should select and review the Corporate Social Responsibility Report of a Fortune 500 company.
In your group analysis, identify the company CSR topics using the sixteen (16) subject categorizes illustrated in Table 1, CSR Topics with Definitions in the Smith (2017) article. The company you select may not address all of the 16 categories. Please reference the Longitudinal Analysis of Corporate Social Responsibility on Company Websites (Links to an external site.) article.
Then, assess the CSR activities of the company, applying the concepts and topics in Chapter 9 of the textbook and Lesson 13 course content. Include the following components in your group analysis:
- A link to the original Fortune 500 company report.
- Summarize a MINIMUM OF FIVE key elements of the CSR company program from among the 16 CSR Topics. In your opinion, does the company report demonstrate corporate accountability?
- Explanation of how THOSE key elements of the company program relate to CSR. Does the organization understand and demonstrate a long-term commitment to the importance of CSR? Is the CSR strategy incorporated in its business strategy? What evidence forms the basis of your opinion?
- The group overall evaluation of the key elements of the company CSR efforts. What measures does the company use to assess the impact of CSR activities on its performance? Do you recommend alternative programs to enhance CSR for the organization?
As a general guideline, your group analysis should be 2-3 pages, 1 ½ -spaced, 12-point font Microsoft Word document or PDF with appropriate citations. Your group will submit one document on behalf of the entire group.
