Read Chapter 1 The Importance of Business Ethics (Pages 1-27) of Business Ethics Ethical Decision Making and Cases. (Hereafter, it will be referred to as “Textbook”) Review an Ethical Dilemma (Page 2)
Answer the following questions:
1. Identify the different issues Sophie has to resolve;
2. Discuss the choices/alternatives for Sophie;
3. What should Sophie do when her company’s policy conflicts with the firm’s corporate
culture?
4. Out Textbook author states: “Ethics Contributes to Employee Commitment” (Page 16)
and “Ethics Contributes to Profits” (Page 19). If Sophia chooses to pad her expenses as
Emma suggests, do her actions reflect unethical behavior? If so, does this behavior
conflict with our author’s arguments as to employee commitment and company profits?
Do you agree or disagree with the author’s positions on employee commitment and
profits? Explain.
