‘-Please compose four different periods, using both pitch and rhythm
-Periods typically have two phrases with question/answer (antecedent/consequent) relationships
-Each period should be at least four measures long (though eight is a good choice too)
-Please make sure that your examples are not all in the same key – I’d like at least two different tonics, and at least one of each mode
-Please make sure that all of your creations exhibit principles of “good” use of meter, and “good” use of scales and scale degrees
-Along with your compositions, please turn in a few typed sentences explaining which of your four creations is your current favorite, and why…
