After you read Aiko’s account, write a paragraph and answer these questions:
1. After Pearl Harbor, what did Aiko expect would happen to her, and what was the actual reality?
2. What was her family’s and others response once they got the word they would be sent to an internment camp?
3. What were the conditions she and others faced in the Manzanar prison camp?
4. What is the big contradiction in all this, and how does this apply to us today?
