Deviant behavior should be treated differently than criminal behavior because deviant behavior is basically a person believing that what they are doing is not wrong, where as criminal behavior is a belief a person did it once they can do it again whether it is right, wrong, or indifferent. Deviant behavior with proper therapy or counseling can be treated or changed or a person can be retrained. Criminal behavior I believe can not be changed, once a criminal always a criminal. Criminals have the mindset that they can do what they want to whether it is right, wrong or indifferent.Simplest terms the punishment should befit the crime. I also believe the punishment should befit the criminal, meaning career criminals should get career sentences. Criminals who break the law by stealing something should not get the death penalty but, criminals who murder someone should get the death penalty or life in prison without parole. Criminals should all start with a rehabilitation program for lesser crime in order to be able to not be criminals anymore and live in society again.
